The OBDII (on board diagnostics 2) was standardized and required by the federal government on all cars sold in the U.S. starting with year model 1996 and later. Standardizing the all the different manufacturers systems is one thing our government did right!   We have made major investments to have the latest diagnostic tools for all the cars we work on. One big advantage of the OBDII and the check engine light is that an intermittent fault will be stored in memory. With our equipment and the OBDII port, we go way beyond the engine faults. We can access any of the faults built into the system by the manufacturer. Climate control, cruise, seats mirrors, just about any of the electrical systems, no different than taking your car to the dealer. I’m not aware of any non dealer, Westside shop,  that is as equipped as we are! We are ready with the training and tools to accurately diagnose and repair your German car. The dreaded Check Engine Light!
